Privacy policy

In short
- No accounts, no cookies of our own, no advertising, and no tracking scripts.
- Basic, aggregate traffic statistics (such as how many visits the site gets) are collected by Cloudflare, the network that delivers the site. See Traffic statistics.
- Everything the page loads (map, fonts, code, weather data, radar and satellite images) comes from this site, delivered through Cloudflare. Your browser does not contact NOAA, map providers or other third parties while you use it.
- A few display preferences are saved in your own browser and never sent to us.
- We do not sell, share or rent any information.
Who we are
WX Pins is a hobby project created by a private pilot with too much free time.
What is stored in your browser
The site uses your browser's local storage, not cookies, to remember these settings on your device. They are never transmitted to our server.

You can remove them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. The site works without them; it just forgets your preferences.
What our server receives
Like any website, the site necessarily receives technical information with each request, such as your IP address, browser type and the page or file requested, in order to send the response. Our own web server is configured not to record access logs, so we do not keep a history of visits or build profiles of visitors.
Links you share from the map (for example, a link to a particular airport) contain only the map position and airport code.
Traffic statistics
WXPins.com is delivered through Cloudflare, which handles every request on its way to our server in order to deliver it securely and protect the site from attacks. As part of that service, Cloudflare gives us basic traffic statistics, such as:
- the number of visits, page views and requests, and the data transferred;
- approximate visitor location by country;
- browser, operating system and device type;
- which pages were requested and which sites linked to them;
- errors and blocked threats.
We see these only as totals and trends, not as a record of what any individual did. They come from the requests themselves: no tracking script runs in your browser for them. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details as described in its privacy policy, and may set a strictly necessary security cookie only if it needs to check for automated or malicious traffic.
Weather data
Our server downloads weather reports from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on its own schedule. These requests contain no information about you or other visitors.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or California law) you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information about you. Because we do not keep personal information, there is normally nothing to provide or delete, but you are welcome to ask: contact (at) wxpins (dot) com.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above will change too. Material changes, such as adding tracking scripts or cookies, will be described here before they take effect.
