WX Pins is for general information and situational awareness only. Do not use it for flight planning, navigation, or any decision about the safety of a flight. Weather shown here may be delayed, incomplete, or wrong, and the plain-English decoding and flight categories are produced automatically and may contain errors.

Always get an official weather briefing from an approved source before flight: in the United States, Flight Service (1800wxbrief.com) or the Aviation Weather Center; elsewhere, the official briefing service of your national aviation authority. The pilot in command is solely responsible for obtaining and evaluating all information required for a flight.

1. About these terms

These terms apply to your use of WX Pins at WXPins.com (the "site"). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. Where the information comes from

Weather observations (METARs) and forecasts (TAFs) are copied from the public data feeds of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Aviation Weather Center about once a minute. We do not create, verify or correct this data. Copies can lag behind the official source, and reports from individual stations can be missing, late, or erroneous. Each report shows when it was observed; check that time before relying on anything you see.

Decoded text, flight categories (VFR, MVFR, IFR, LIFR), the 12-hour history and map colours are calculated by this site's software and may differ from official interpretations. Radar, satellite, SIGMET, G-AIRMET and pilot report layers are copied from NOAA every few minutes, are already minutes old when published, and must not be used to avoid weather in flight. Lightning indicators reflect only what each station's latest report says. Map features come from OpenStreetMap contributors and may be inaccurate or out of date. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by NOAA, the National Weather Service, the FAA, or any aviation authority.

3. No warranty

The site and all information on it are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We may change, suspend or discontinue the site at any time without notice.

4. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages, or for any loss, injury or damage of any kind, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or any information on it, including any reliance on it for aviation or other purposes. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

5. Acceptable use

Do not present information from this site as official or as a weather briefing.
Do not use automated tools to request the site in volumes that would impair it for others. If you need bulk weather data, use NOAA's own data services directly.
Do not attempt to disrupt, probe or gain unauthorised access to the site or its servers.

6. Third-party content and licences

Map data, fonts, icons and software libraries are used under their own licences, listed with the required attributions on the About page. Those licences, not these terms, govern your use of that material.

7. Privacy

How the site handles information is described in the Privacy policy.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. The effective date above shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
